Dr. Alexandre Roulin, professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland, is considered to be the world's leading researchers and experts on the ecology, evolution, genetics and biology of the nocturnal raptor Barn owl.
Pr. Roulin has achieved the expansion of the scientific knowledge about Barn owl as few in the world. He has published more than 400 scientific publications and leads a multi-member research team. At the same time, he has used Barn owl as a model species to investigate genetic mechanisms of wildlife evolution and adaptation, as well as the evolution of chromatic polymorphism in wildlife and the role it plays in many other ecological issues. and biological affairs (e.g. reproduction, communication, dimorphism, food ecology, hunting strategies).
He has also played a key role as a scientist in the scientific coordination for the Barn Owl Project to a larger extent in the Middle East in collaboration with Israel.
The Civil Society Organization "TYTO" has been collaborating scientifically with the research team of Dr Alexandre Roulin since 2012, seeking answers to various research parameters, collecting field data and applying research protocols to the Greek population of Barn owl. The collaboration has led to a number of important scientific publications.
